I.
History

Founded in August 2000, the Graduate Institute of Gender Education (GIGE) is the first academic institution in Asia to provide training in gender equity education to professional educators and equity advocates. GIGE conducts in-service training sessions, provides gender studies resources, and arranges opportunities for academic exchange. We are committed to teaching and developing research methods and practices that equip students with the skills to examine gender equity from both global and local perspectives.

In August 2011, after many years of thorough preparation, GIGE welcomed our first class of PhD students. An interdisciplinary program, the GIGE PhD program in Gender Studies Education serves a crucial role in the cultivation of gender education researchers and promotion of gender mainstreaming in higher education.
